Welcome to Can You Etch It, the web’s first laser engraving series that specializes in laser engraving strange, unique, and even common items. Today I’ll create a unique notepad in the shape of an armadillo.
How many notepads do you have around your house? If you are like me, there always seems to be too many to store but they all tend to hide when you need one. More often than not, the notepads you have are plain and normal. Some of mine have come from hotels or free giveaways. There are a few legal pads here or there but really, the notepads I have are kind of boring. Today, that changes.
If you need to have a notepad with you at all times, why not have an interesting notepad? There are professional looking notepads and novelty notepads but from what I could find, no armadillo shaped notepads. There is something wrong in a world that doesn’t have armadillo shaped notepads. So, as a service to the world, the notepad being created today fills that void.
Why create a laser cut armadillo notepad?
For some reason, I like armadillos. I have for years. They are not fuzzy or cuddly. As far as products are concerned, it is difficult to find armadillos either on a product or in their shape. I guess I could have picked a more difficult animal like a marmoset or something, but for some reason, I just like armadillos.
One of the uses for an armadillo shaped notepad is for armadillo classification. Years ago, I created a simple, yet effective system for classifying armadillos. It classifies the armadillos into three classes, I, II, and III. You can read more about these classifications on this post and, for those who are more visual, you can check out the video.
Here is the video showing the notepad being engraved and cut. The video is divided up into three sections: the front cover, the pages, and the back. The front engraving took almost 5 minutes by itself to complete so the video is sped up to keep it short. At the end of the video you can see the final result. For more pictures, check out the end of the post.
